A jewellery house built around light, and a small number of objects.
Everything here is organised around one observation: a stone is not seen, it is seen by. The rest of the house — the collections, the bench, the film — follows from taking that literally.

N° 01 — What the house is
The House of Light makes jewellery and films it. Those are the two activities, and everything else is bookkeeping.
A piece is designed to be noticed the second time rather than the first. Nothing in the house is built to be seen from across a room, which rules out most of what the category rewards and is the reason the collections stay small.
The work is shot as a single continuous take rather than as a set of product photographs, on the grounds that a piece is a duration and not an object. The film at the top of this site is that take.
N° 02 — By the numbers
- Collections
- 4
- Pieces
- 9
- Journal entries
- 6
- Benches
- Four, one bench each
- 01Finish the hidden sideIf a face will be found one day, it is finished. The unseen surface gets the same hours as the one that gets seen.
- 02Make less, resolve itA silhouette is worth more once it has been redrawn than a new one has been sketched. The house adds very little.
- 03The material decidesStone is set as it arrived. Where the house corrects the material, the correction is the weaker of the two.
- 04Nocturnal, not loudThe house is designed to be noticed the second time. Nothing in it is built to be seen from across a room.
- 01One benchThe house begins as a single bench and a single finishing wheel, working to no collection plan at all.
- 02The first closureThe decision to finish both faces of every piece, made early and never revisited, because it doubled the work and improved nothing visible.
- 03Raw platesThe Terra collection introduces unpolished mineral faces held against mirror gold, and the argument between the two finishes becomes the house's signature.
- 04Fewer piecesOutput is reduced rather than expanded. The house stops adding silhouettes and starts resolving the ones it already had.
- 05The filmThe decision to shoot the work as a single continuous take instead of a set of product photographs, on the grounds that a piece is a duration and not an object.
This house, its collections, its pieces and its journal are fictional. The site is a front-end demonstration and takes no orders.
